Support Vegetarian Action!

Vegetarian Action is a not for profit Charitable Trust based in South Australia (ABN 15 066 407 893).

Vegetarian Action is community-based and run by volunteers. We are independent and non-partisan, and receive no government funding. Our activities are funded primarily by donations from our supporters.

Vegetarian Action is dedicated exclusively to promoting vegetarianism as an ethical, humane, healthy and ecologically sustainable way of life.

How we define vegetarianism Top

Vegetarian Action defines vegetarianism as:

  • an exclusively plant-based diet consisting of grains, legumes, nuts, seeds, fruit and vegetables, which may be modified to include dairy products, eggs and honey, as in variants such as lacto-ovo vegetarianism
  • a lifestyle based on adherence to a vegetarian diet and which may also involve other practices, such as the use of non animal-derived products for clothing and other purposes, and the avoidance of products or activities involving use or misuse of animals

Vision Top

Vegetarian Action is driven by a vision of:

  • more people becoming and staying vegetarian,
  • more people knowing more about how a plant versus a animal-based diet is better for the environment, health, animal welfare, and world hunger, and
  • greater recognition and implementation of vegetarianism at a social and political level.

Objectives Top

Vegetarian Action works towards its vision by:

  • campaigning, informing and educating to raise awareness about vegetarianism and its advantages for the environment, health, animal welfare, and world hunger
  • educating about the fundamentals of a nutritionally sound vegetarian diet
  • supporting people to become and stay vegetarian
  • supporting locally available vegetarian choices
  • encouraging the research, study and application of animal-free alternatives for food, clothing and other purposes, and of alternatives to products or activities involving the use or misuse of animals
  • lobbying for recognition and implementation of vegetarianism at a social and political level
  • cooperating with organisations with related aims
  • fund raising to finance Vegetarian Action's work towards these objectives

Support Vegetarian Action! Top
