Meat & Livestock Australia's latest campaign to sell
red meat focuses on the "positives" of eating meat
- the nutrients like iron, protein, zinc which are found in
red meat.
Like all advertising, the promotions neglect to mention the
negatives of meat - which far outweigh its advertised
benefits - and also the fact that the positive nutrients found
in meat are also available in meatless diets.
Comparative anatomy - that is, comparing the human body to
other plant-eaters and to the bodies of carnivores - clearly
demonstrates that we're not "meant" to eat meat
- we're "meant" to eat plants!
Vegetarian Action's latest public education flyer features
a quick look at comparative anatomy (humans versus carnivores)
on the front, while the reverse (pictured left) deals
with the negatives of meat consumption.
